I'm currently level 16... will I be matched up with someone level 50? Or someone around my level?

They try to get as close to your level as possible. It all depends on who is on at the moment. Either way, if you don't flee, you should get some scrip for it.

Yes, don't flee. A flee still counts as a loss and you lose the scrip reward for participating.
