Plot hole when it comes to the Armada's creation?

In one of Gazpacchio's puppet shows, we see that he has built Kane after building the clockworks themselves but in Avery's Armada puppet show from Book IV, he said Kane was the first clockwork.

Gazpaccio says he built "automata" servants, not soldiers. Kane was unique in that he had self will and awareness, therefore he was first, the Armada and the Elites came much later.

Well, either Avery wasn't privy to the details of Gazpaccio's life story, or he meant that Kane is "first among Clockworks," as in the best of them.

Seems a bit of a stretch but.....Yea.........I can go with that.
