I know we have this almost every week / but just curious as to what is being done during this time ?

If bugs are being fixed it would be nice to get updates telling us if things have been done.

Pirate101 runs on several servers and all that infrastructure takes a lot of care to maintain. Weekly maintenance helps us keep the game running great for our players during peak play times.

If there are bugs that are fixed, we let you know with a list of update notes (with the exception of when there is an extremely small update that has no player-facing changes)
