The Road to El Dorado... Did you know?!

*I think this is in the right forum, any who...*

This world was based off a movie?! My little sister scrolled through the listings on our Tv when she came across a movie that's fixing to air in a couple days and freaked out, calling for me to come see. The movie is called, "A Road to El Dorado." We read through the summary for the movie, and I can honestly say I had no idea...

Here's the summary for the movie itself, "Two 16th-century con artists find a map to El Dorado, the legendary lost city of gold, in this beautifully animated adventure featuring songs by Elton John and Tim Rice. Keven Kline and Kenneth Branagh provide the voices for the pair of swindlers."

I realize the last part may had been too much info, but they deserve their props. Any who, the two 16th-century con artists they talked about could be our pirate and Mooshu companion (or first mate. to each their own). The rest you can figure out for yourself... I just can't believe they based this world off a movie, though I should had guessed since they usually base a lot of factors of the game off of classics. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm fixing to when it airs.

Finally, this leads me to question... why did you (KI) choose this movie to base this game off of? Out of the million of movies with Adventurous story lines... why this one? Don't take me wrong, I love this idea: I'm just curious .

Like I said, I haven't seen the movie just yet, but I'm sure it must be amazing for y'all to put this much work into the game, making El Dorado the main focal point of the game (if the armada, or armada-like similarities are in the movie as well... my sister and i just might loose it, lol ).

I have seen the disney movie, The Road ot El Dorado, but El Dorado is actually an old mythological city that certain spanish explorers claimed to have found in Central America. El Dorado was supposed to be an Aztec City made entirely out of gold. El Dorado is often linked to the equally mythic fountain of eternal youth, which had also supposedly been a goal of the Spanish Conquistadores.

Oh my gosh! I thought I was the only one to see this similarity! I actually got my dad to buy the movie on Amazon Prime so I could re watch it to so if anything is similar. I agree that Miguel and Tulio (the two con artists) could very well be our pirate and our Mooshu companion. I have found a few more similarities. *Note: Spoilers for the movie. I just want to give a fair warning. This is also my first post on the forums so sorry if it's kinda long.*

1) In Marco Pollo's letter to Headmaster Ambrose, he states "There is indeed gold here, more than can easily be imagined, but I fear El Dorado is far more and far less than a city of gold". Well, in the movie El Dorado is literal a city of gold.

2) Two other lines in Pollo's letter caught my attention as well. He says "Something terrible happened here, my friend, long ago." and "What we found here nearly killed us." I'm thinking what happened is that jaguar at the end of the movie that the Witchdoctor (or that's what I think of him) Tzekel-Kan summoned and controlled to kill Tulio and Miguel. It makes since (at least to me) that that would be the terrible thing they found because it nearly killed the two con artists just as it could have nearly done to the crew.

3) This may not be totally accurate but I found a picture of a gold wheel very similar to the one we saw at Beachhead, the one for the "Grand Design". I don't know really what the two has to do with each other but I found this kinda interesting in the sense it proves a little more El Dorado in Pirate101 might be similar to the El Dorado in the movie.

4) Last thing I'll state right now but I would imagine that the expedition group in the movie would be the Armada in the game and instead of Hernán Cortés leading the group (or Gortez in the game) it would be an elite clockwork or, a more logical choice in my eyes, Kane himself.

Wow...I have a feeling I might be overthinking this . Oh well, Adios Amigos!

Welcome to the message boards Seina12 You do have an attention to detail that is amazing. I have no doubts that our Blind Mew will for sure have many a nod, nudge & wink towards this movie but I am totally convinced that his level of creativity will far surpass this movie. He doesn't need to plagiarize to get his story across. He is gonna have more surprise plot twists and fun up his sleeve that will leave that little move plot in the dust.

''Hmm ... I really like that movie. Never miss it. I don't know about the world but this game was based of ( or inspired) by Pirates of the Caribbean. But come to think of it ... El Dorado is a legend. A really popular one too. Why, I even have a book about it here'' taps a black book. Ratbeard suddenly freaks out:
'' What?! Then why we were doing the hard stuff? Giv' me that'' the rat grabs the book and scrolls trough the yellow papers. Ashley takes back the book.
'' Not that kind. Anyway, it's no surprise the developers made a story about the town of gold.

Thanks for the welcomes! It make me all warm and fuzzy inside . I believe your correct when I come to the nod, nudge & wink. The people at Kingsisle are way to creative to plagiarize. Still can't wait to see what they'll do with this City of Gold.

What a coincidence. Yesterday I just read a non-fictional book, which talked about the Amazon Rainforest. In part of it, it talked about some Europeans searching for a city of gold. Hmmm, sound familiar to anyone?
