Scaly Gilman Strategy?!?

Not sure which forum this would go under, so I thought Skull Island was most appropriate.
Anyways, I have tried countless times to defeat Scaly Gilman on my Lv 69 Privateer. Most of the time, him and his minions slay my crew before I can kill any of his minions or him. Does anyone have a strategy for this? Thanks!
