Aguirre in Rite of Passage

As soon as I begin the Gold Monkey dungeon, the first NPC I'm tasked with talking to bugs my game out. Both left-clicking and pressing "X" causes the bottom hud (health, energy, etc.) to dissapear and no dialogue comes from said NPC. My character also cannot move after interacting with Aguirre, the NPC in question
