A friend of mine noticed that when morphing 2 of the Hero Colossus together the new pet ended up with a talent pool that was different from its parents. Keep in mind both parents are first gen. What happened is that the Rare talent at the bottom moved to near the top, moving the rest of the talents down.

The original talent pool is as follows:

4. Common
   
5. Common
   
6. Common
7. Rare
8. Rare
9. Common
10. Rare
    

Here's the new pool from the offspring:

The fact that both parents have the exact same talents shouldn't have caused this displacement in the talent order.
