Load refusal

The game refuses to load i have the new windows 8 and have had no previous troubles.My brother jordan AKA myth258 says it has happened to him before. We have tried restarting the computer several times and still the same outcome where it gets to the flag and no "press any key to continue" appears and you get stuck there. Plz notify me on what to do.

David=archmage diviner and lvl 60 buccaneer.
Jordan=grand master conjurer lvl 47 buccaneer.
