Earlier today I did ratbeard's first promotion quest on my musketeer and lasko was still sword-less. Honestly I think it's kinda cool that he doesn't use a sword (though I guess he uses a "ghost/invisible" sword if you want to get technical). If you do choose to give him one, have it be ghostly like he and his evil spirit minions are.
