Main storyline continuity error, "The Ringleader"

Ahoy, there!

While I enjoyed facing Captain Foote during one of Book 5's side quests, "Stomp That Foote!", & one of Book 10's main story quests, "The Ringleader", I began to do some thinking & remembering... & after that, I came to the conclusion... there is a minor main storyline continuity error going on.

Now, if our well-known quest writer, Blind Mew, is around, I have something to share with him, so here it is.

After seeing Captain Foote for the first time during "Stomp That Foote!", I battled against him in Arroyo Grande West and took him to Sheriff Lancaster during "Justice, My Foote!" to be sent to Fort McMurtry, which would be found out to be in the Haunted Skyway. I would think he would be imprisoned there, but I've thought not after progressing through more quests that led up to "The Ringleader".

Plus, while I saved Corporal Sanders during another of Book 5's side quests found in Hidden Valley Ranch, "Saving Corporal Sanders", I sent him to Junction during "Ready for Duty" and he made his way to Fort McMurtry.

Now, here comes this part...

During "The Ringleader", I wouldn't believe my eyes when I spotted Captain Foote & Corporal Sanders again in the Dusty Vortex's Old Hang Em' Jail's Hang Em' Cellblock. This left me baffled with questions like "How could Captain Foote remember me after I threw him in jail in a side quest?", "How did Corporal Sanders remember me after he said, "We meet again, Pirate.", after I rescued him in a side quest?", &, "How did I meet them in a major story quest after meeting them in side quests? This is making my brain itch!". It all hit me right on the noggin, like a Striped Bumbaloon kickin' my head from behind... by surprise.

This really led me to say that there is a part of the P101 storyline that definitely needs to be looked at. I think our recurred encounters with Captain Foote & Corporal Sanders in the Haunted Skyway needs to be reformatted into a side quest, so it will be more in-line with the other side quests in Book 10, with a little more on Foote's backstory expanded to explain more of how he became more than a crook, while "The Ringleader" needs to be greatly revised to include a new nasty boss enemy that is responsible for aiding Captain Blood's attack on McMurtry & the prison break & a new vortex with a new land inside with a new major adventure instance of it's own, almost like The Wreck of the Victory.

To place it finely, that part of the major storyline needs to have an overhaul, like how the Three Rats quests were done before, with some more excitement & value, a stronger storyline, & a better picture on Captain Blood's actions in the Haunted Skyway while having the second battle against Foote made into a side quest that should act as the true follow-up to these quests I spoke of.

Pirates, if you've been through this, I believe you may need to think on what I've spoken of & reflect on it. Hope this continuity error gets solved someday soon.

Thanks again for listening & reading, P101 team!

If you remember the entire Haunted Skyway quest line then this confusion is easily cleared up. Fort McMurtry suffered an attack from the Undead ships from the skyway, this caused prisoners to escape; presumiably Captain Foote as well as the weasel and Crazy Horn. Corporal Sanders, a soldier in Fort McMUrtry, may have been on guard duty at the time of escape and taken prisoner.
So you see there is no continuity problem at all.

Uh, I have seen them in side quests in Book 5, & they appeared again in Book 10's main story quest. I would think that the quest I went through may need to have some retcon work so that we would not be confused about Captain Foote being the one behind the plot, but rather, have a new adversary to take his place, & I would think it would be one of Captain Blood's most trusted enforcer helping him renew his piratical reign, likely a rotting mojo-influenced skeletal lieutenant of Captain Blood's crew.

If the second encounter against Captain Foote would be revised into a side quest, which I would like to see, I would think that he used the time of Captain Blood's attack on McMurtry to his advantage, like many prisoners do during prison attacks, by making his escape and Corporal Sanders would pursue him and stop him again, however, an unexpected attack from his ghost fleet ambushed him, leaving him vulnerable for his capture and Foote hoisted him into the Old Hang Em' Jail and held him hostage in an attempt at ransom from McMurty to get his restitution, & we would stop him again & rescue Sanders once more. That would make it separate from the main story.

Let me say this, if some Pirates didn't take these side quests & just progressed through the main story quests until they reached that quest before saving Sanders & battling Foote for the first time, almost like how some of them got to Deacon in Motherlode Mine before doing Bonnie Anne's second promo quest, would they be facing that same kind of confusion like before? I would think so. If I did on one of my Pirates, the experience would leave me baffling beyond words.

If Foote had any connections to the attack, what use would he had for Blood to do?

I would think that my thoughts on having that part of the storyline needing some retcon work would make it feel more fresher & more vibrant on Captain Blood's actions through using his ghost & undead fleet against McMurtry. I think it's more of a minor plot oversight to me.

If players neglect side quests and are then baffled by a main story line reference, it's their fault and not the responsibility of KI to 'explain' backstories.

Maybe so to the players, but I'm one of some who thinks logically after experience. If KI takes time, they may look back and embellish someday.

Then again, I would really like for them to launch the next long-awaited story update before they do any more retcon work. We've been waiting for very long, & I'm not sure how much longer we'll have to wait.
