Not saying I would be a big fan of this since I am also a musketeer, but I think riposte should work with guns - when the musketeer is close to the player or companion with riposte and shoots but misses them.

By that logic,when a melee attacker misses whacking a musketeer, he should be able to shoot the attacker with his return fire, or be able to true grit the guy when the attack lands.
Not sure I'm a big fan of this either way, and the coding would probably be a nightmare.
