Change Old Scratch to Act Before My Pirate in PVP?

In PVP for Musk, Witch, and Privy, should I set my Settings so that my firstmate acts before my pirate? That way my pirate would get mojo buffs within the round and be able to bomb or mojo storm etc. with more damage. Wanted to know if this is a common thing that people do or if it is a bad idea?

Again, it's not possible to set the first mate to go before your pirate.
