When you're in the stormgates travelling between world, you'll sometimes see the wrecks of ships among the local beasties. If you look closely enough, you may spy a crate floating with the wreckage. This crate can be collected for a decent amount of gold (370 gold per crate, give or take a few).

I found this out while exploring the Monquista to Avernus stormgate trying to see what the lvl 15 Octopus there drop (15-116 gold per chest, no items yet, however I've only had 13 battles so far).

I'll go look in the other stormgates and see if this happens there as well later.

Ooo, thanks so much for sharing! That certainly makes those interminable voyages between worlds more interesting when I don't have the money to use the transportalator or can't avoid the journey (like the first time a pirate travels into a new world).

How bad are those battles? Pretty much level appropriate for the first time through?

So, I'm going to treat this thread as sort of a Captain's Log of my explorations into the depths of the spiral, and report any findings here, most likely for beasties with very little data in the P101 Central wiki.

Captain's Log 01, 4th of June, 2015.

I've heard rumours of a terrible beastie lurking in the Stormgate that links Monquista to Aquila, With wings for hands, clawed talons for feet, slimy, scalie purple hides and a face that can make a grown man freeze where he stands. So naturally I sent out a scouting party to investigate. After three weeks, the party returned, exhausted and delirious. Naturally we rushed them off to Miracle Mitch's, but the whole way my musketeer kept crying out the same word over, and over again, "Harpy". He would have continued had Ratbeard not quietened him with the use of an oar. Needless to say he'll be swabbing the decks for a month.

While the scouting party is getting tended to, I gathered my best fighters together to get Mitch's fee directly from the source of the problem, this 'Harpy' creature. However, nothing could have prepared us for what we were to see, for stretched out to the horizon, the gate was swarming with the beastie! I Asked Gracie, having the best organisational skills on this crew, to log everything we collected from these Harpies, before we charged into the swarm.

30 Battles later.

I believe it's safe to say that we have avenged our scouting party, and now have the finances needed to pay Mitch's fee, although why he doesn't convert to the Frogfather's favor system is beyond me. Actually, after that business with the Wharf rats, I believe that the Frogfather owes us a couple of favors. We'll set sail for Jonah Town in the morning.

Gracie's Log Summary:

63-2393 Gold per chest
1853 Gold average per Battle

Items Dropped:
2x Vine Covered Canopy
2x Haggis Crisps
1x Moolong Tea
1x Dancing Statue
2x Despertatoes
1x Ophidian Artwork
1x Aquilian Stool
1x Crate of Fireworks
1x Basic Barrel

I honestly can't answer this question yet as I went through this time with a maxed out Buccaneer. However, I'll go through again when my Witchdoctor is able to and let you know how she goes.
