Another year has passed, and Pirate101 continues to set its course into 2017! Professor Falmea recently published a Producer’s Letter that took a look back at last year and talked a bit about the future: “We’re spinning plans for what’s to come, though I don’t have anything concrete I can share just yet. We’re excited to continue charting our course and sail full speed ahead into next year, after a long winter’s nap, of course. May your course be true and may you steer clear of scoundrels this holiday season. From the crew to you, we wish you a warm, happy, and fun one!”
We hope you enjoyed the improved Yuletide decorations we surprised you with this year. They’ll soon be put away, so grab those last few presents under the Skull Island tree while you can!
Thank you for joining us for KI Live this past month where we spent some time exploring the new decorations on Skull Island in Pirate101.
Read on for more information about Pirate101 and thank you for making our game great. We love our loyal Pirate101 fans!
Rogue’s Gallery: Subodai
Continuing on with our spotlight on the MooShu Five, this month we show off the starter companion for the Swashbuckler class . . . the mighty Subodai! Through completing his promotion quests, you eventually see Subodai graduate to the rank of Khan, but not much is known about his past before your fateful meeting in the Armada’s brig.
Grandson of the legendary Khan Ogudai, Subodai quickly gained a reputation as a cunning hunter and bold warrior. He was raised on the legends of the great khans and the glorious history of the Golden Horde. Subodai was sure that someday he would take his place among the Khans. Sadly, it was not to be. Subodai’s father, Khan Toghon, made too many enemies: eventually infighting among the khans led to a bitter war between Subodai's clan and the clan of Khan Sartaq. Khan Tokta could not marshal any allies, and so Subodai’s clan was decimated.
Subodai fought so well in the final battle, that he was not sentenced to death. Instead, the young warrior was bound into slavery. Rather than breaking his spirit, the degrading life of a slave made Subodai’s resolve even stronger. Subodai was passed from clan to clan, until finally Khan Khidir sold him to the Armada in return for blasting powder. Subodai brooded in his prison cell, longing to take his rightful place among his people not as a slave, but as a Khan! Fate, however, would reveal a different destiny to him when he was freed from his cell by a fellow prisoner...
Screenshot of the Month!
Calling all players! Calling all players! We’re looking to increase the number of screenshots we receive in a month, and we’d love to start seeing your creativity first hand. With this in mind, we’re starting a new article in our monthly newsletter where we feature our favorite screenshot every month. As a reminder, please only send us your best three screenshots every month to community@pirate101.com if you’d like to participate. For more tips, check out this blog post with helpful screen shot hints.
This month’s screenshot comes from Silent Harmony Dove, who looked very festive on her Halloween mount in front of the new colorful Yuletide tree in Skull Island. Great shot Harmony!
Fan Art Spotlight!
Each month we also receive a lot of great Fan Art to our community@pirate101.com email. These are uploaded to our Pinterest page and Facebook, but each month we’d like to spotlight some of our great creative talent in the Spiral. This month Cunning Krystal Nightingale sent us a collage of Bonnie Anne sketches from her personal sketch book. What a fun way to show your appreciation for one of Pirate101’s most memorable companions. Nice fan art, Krystal!
