It was an amazing 2018 with the community across the Spiral! We released an update in September with some important hotfixes, celebrated Pirate101’s 6th birthday in October, and expanded our coverage of community content to more outlets. Also, in Professor Falmea’s December Producer’s Letter, we talked about the wintry and festive holidays, charity mounts, Krampus, and much more!

Let’s take a quick look at some of the treasures of 2018 to remember together. A big thanks to Final Bastion, Adventures of the Spiral, Frostcaller, and other sites for tracking content throughout the year!

Most important was the huge amount of community generated content that you introduced to each other. From contests and events like PvP competitions and charity giveaways to housing tours and useful starter guides for new players, we saw a ton of community generated content. Keep it coming! One of our goals in 2019 is to expand our presence on other social media sites, so let us know which ones you are on and we’ll check them out.

Kicking off 2019 at PAX South

Kicking off the new year, we’re heading to PAX South! Join Community Manager Mathew “Sparck” Anderson and Associate Producer Renee “Wooften” Wooten as we meet with the community during the show. We’ll be attending on January 19th and 20th. Email community@kingsisle.com and let us know you will be attending so we can say hello! We’ll be hanging out with The Untold Spiral and DuelCircle as they team up for a KingsIsle Community PAX South takeover.

KingsIsle Dev Diary: Krampus


We just started up a new video series where the KingsIsle developers talk about a new release or new in-game system. This new series includes coverage for all our games. Pirate101 made it into December 2018’s slot! In this video we talk about Krampus making a scene in the game, including how he was developed. Have a look:

There was no KI Live in December due to the holidays, though Bat Masterson managed to still sneak into one of the conference rooms to play Wizard101 and Pirate101 while chatting with the community about 2019:

So, who do you think is the strongest world in the spiral? Before you answer let me just tell you. Its Captain Avery's pirate republic. Why you may ask? Well they don't have any military power really, no law or defense and are a brand new independent world in the spiral. But what they do have is allies. Remember that quest with the pillars in VA, the ones that states the Spiral Powers? Well 3 out of 4 of them are allied with SI, not to mention Polaris which as we know has Napoleguin back. So, who are they allied with, when did they ally with them, and why does this make them the strongest spiral world? All shall be answered today! (and some questions like why isn't Wizard City the strongest?)

Adventures of the Spiral looked back at everything KingsIsle had to offer in 2018.

The Dragonspyre Pirate shared what he thinks are the strongest worlds in the Spiral.

With different champion weapons each PvP season, Final Bastion showcased the different ones that Pirates can acquire.

The Untold Spiral is selling hoodies and t-shirts with proceeds going to AbleGames Charity.

Final Bastion rated the member benefits that have been introduced for Pirates.

Stephanie Dragonheart went on an adventure through the Spiral to acquire the Frosty badges.

Scrip is not always easy to acquire but The Dragonspyre Pirate shared the best places to obtain it.

Paige Moonshade showcased Jack Nightingale’s pirate hideout with a golden chicken army.

Kyle IceWielder shared his theories after watching the puppet shows.

For the winter season, Stephanie Dawnheart and Final Bastion looked at the new champ weapons.
