Xol Akmul

The jungle-shrouded isles of Skull Island skyway hold many mysteries - the ancient ruins that loom in the deepest jungles, encrusted in gold and ancient carvings. Strange as these ruins are, legends persist of the richest and deadliest of all: the lost City of Gold: Xol Akmul. Xol Akmul was discovered by the esteemed Catherwood Stevens of the Spiral Geographic Society, who described the ruins extensively in his journal before savage Troggies drove him from the place. Nobody has ever managed to return to Xol Akmul, though tales of the city's gold and treasure are common among the pirates of Skull Island.

Stevens went on to join the SGS expedition to Celestia, but was lost. His fate remains unknown. Stevens' journals were forgotten until a member of the Society happened across them, rediscovering their accounts of stone pyramids and the Ancient Ones who built them. Before the Society could launch a new expedition, however, Stevens' journal was stolen.
