Avery's bird?

Every time I see Avery I always wonder about what in the world is that bird? He never talks about the bird's name. Doesn't talk about what kind of bird it is. Is it an older version of a Scarakeet? Did he win it in a bet? Don't know just one of those things I noticed that Avery NEVER talks about during the main story or side quests when you talk to him.
