Captain Hande quest bug

Ok well I don't understand what happened but I was battling Captain Hande it kept repeating. Well I got sick and tired of it so I left the pirates den. When I came back, it said to talk to Captain Hande and now it doesn't show anyone in it. Unfortunately I am unable to promote my Lucky Jack Russell. How can I fix this?
