Dye Companion's Outfit

I'd like to pay gold to dye some of my companion's outfits. I know they are supposed to be my colors but on some of their outfits I would have reversed the order of the two colors they use, and on others I'd go just solid a color. I would like to control how my companions color coordinate with each other.

The thing with this is that at the start of the game my companions were mostly my favored chosen color and highlighted with the other color, but as they advanced the reverse happened and my gunner crab went mostly from my colors to mostly blue and not my colors. I dress in my prime color and highlight it with an off color. I love my flag and how my ships look, but my companions often now don't seem to match. I could match them way better than the game does.
