Scratch's mojo buff targets privateer companions automatically, but not privateers themselves.

Are you weilding a weapon that uses agility or strength?

Is your strength or agility higher than your will?

These are 2 reasons you are not getting targeted, to fix this stand next to old scratch and he will give anyone around him a buff

you can stand next to him and the buff will go toward you. or you can wield a weapon thats based off will (mine is a staffy/slashy weapon) and get equipment to make sure your will is higher than your other stats
