Can companions from Bundles be Promoted?

I'm spending a lot of companion points on my Cutthroat pirate companion. I'd like to know if he will "evolve" like Bonnie Anne or someone. if not i would much rather be strengthening a different buccaneer.

Yes, I think it's at level 20 for the first promotion of the Cat.
