After you beat the enemies outside the tower, you have to run up to the tower and press x. There should be some sort of command to do so.

After you defeat the Banditoads surrounding the tower, you have to walk up to the tower and click "X" that appears. You have to do it quickly, or the Banditoads will reappear and you'll have to fight them again.
