El Dorado was the name of the Muisca tribal chief who covered himself in gold dust and jumped into a lake as a rite.

Later on it became the legend we hear today as The Lost City of Gold.

El Dorado was a fabled city of gold that the conquistador Cortez was searching for when he came to the americas back in the 1400s-1500s
