What is going on with Maintenance?

It has happened this week, and last week the game is saying that there will be Maintenance but I can still log in It's weird and I like to know why It's happening?

KI typically does this once or twice a month. There have been some reports of bugs, so I'm guessing they take care of those during the "down-time"

The most recent maintenance was to turn on the new birthday mounts and pets for the presents. I don't know if anything else changed or not at this time.

We can now get new pets and mounts from the Birthday Presents in Skull Island. That was probably at least one of the maintenance times.
