Monkey Head Glitch?

Now, I don't know about you guys, but when a quest in Monquista required you to have a monkey's head, it stuck on my character ever since, I don't know if it's a glitch, but when I go back to Skull Island, the head is still on. I don't know if the head comes off after a certain quest or what, but when I spawn in certain areas like Valencia, I have the normal head in my inventory. Is it just me?
