2014 was a fun year and December was a month to remember. Captain’s Quarters, the Black Market, and lot of great changes made their way to Pirate101. Enjoy!
It’s hard to believe that it’s already 2015! We’re looking forward to a fun year of Pirate101 and hope you are too! We hope you caught the Frog Father’s Producer’s Letter.

Rogue's Gallery: Marchioness
Privateers know Frida (or more formally known as “The Marchioness”) as a trusty companion who’s full of surprises! Not much is known, however, about her past and how she arrived at Skull Island. Read on for more information about this loyal friend.
Welcome to the Pirate101 Rogue’s Gallery. Subject, The Marchioness
Frida was born the spoiled offspring of wealthy Monquistan Aristocrats and educated in some of the most exclusive schools in the Spiral including semesters at Sivella, The Lyceum of Nova Aquila, and even a few months at Wysteria (though surprisingly she learned no magic of any use there). Exposed early to an array of conflicting and questionable philosophies, she became thoroughly radicalized. Upon returning to Monquista to assume her ancestral title, she quickly came into conflict with both the corruption of the Monarchy and constant divisions of the Church.
Seeking to take direct action, she left her lands and estates in the hands of family servants and sought military training in the Monquistan navy. Immediately upon graduation of the Royal Naval Academy she deserted to foment revolt and dissent against the crown. Her lands were seized and The Marchioness quickly found herself exiled from her homeland. She viewed this not as a defeat, but as only a minor setback. She has since crewed upon vessels of every navy of the spiral (with her haughty attitude often landing her in the brig) before she found her way to the outlaw’s home: Skull Island.
These Pirates and more await you when you play for free at Pirate101.com.”
Books for the Cultured Pirate
Aha! Pirates! It’s good to help others in need, is it not? You would think after all her adventures in the book Magic Marks the Spot, Hilary Westfield would have convinced the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates that she deserves to be a member, even if they *don't* admit girls. But in the second book in the Very Nearly Honorable League of Pirates series, The Terror of the Southlands, now that Hilary is a member the League is sending her warnings that she isn't being piratical enough. She has to go on an appropriately piratical adventure or she'll lose her standing in the League.
She and her first mate Charlie are happy to oblige, but then they receive word that Hilary's former teacher Miss Pimm is in danger. A true pirate never deserts a mate in trouble! So instead of fighting sea monsters or pirate duels, Hilary and Charlie find themselves joining Hilary's school friend Claire to outwit royal inspectors, interview High Society girls, and solve a mystery that could put the whole kingdom at risk. And Charlie might even have to go to a ball.
This book by Caroline Carlson is just as funny as the first and has all the characters you liked from Magic Marks the Spot. Gargoyle is writing his autobiography! (He's the hero of all the stories.) if you liked Magic Marks the Spot, read about more heroics by everyone (including Gargoyle) in this book!
Fun with Vine
We’ve had some fun with Vine in December! Did you see the new emote that’s free to all players? Be sure to use it whenever you’re looking for some good luck!

Morphing the Perfect Pet

Many of our players have been hard at work morphing pets to find these hidden hybrid combinations. Here’s a few of the recent discoveries:
